Saw Sunvil Holidays sticker in foyer, but now the charter flights to Kalamata are much reduced so independent travel can be enjoyed without mass tourism. Hotel Terrace bar with spectacular sea views over bay studded with dramatic rocky islets and backed by the great castle walls above. Nice little foyer glazed on 2 sides with armchairs so like a conservatory and can look out at splendid views. Hotel bar. Saw Greek, German and French registered cars of visitors staying at hotel.

Right by central square, with pavement cafes of Pylos main square, with parking on harbourfront, and authentic Greek restaurants right by the tour boats and spectacular view of bay. Banks, post office, shops, kiosks (periptera), fresh local produce shops, good class gifts, mini market, and only a moment's drive up to Pylos castle.

Very good road from Kalamata, wide and picturesque. Well sign-posted. Short windy road down into town from main road. Centrally placed for day trips out.
